Materials presents a series of images each pairing photographs with text to conjure spaces which are both real and imagined. Landscape compositions are abstracted into out-of-focus daubs to create painterly, multi-layered imagery, with the ‘real’ space only a suggestion, new forms start to emerge, such as a skull, a grin, a cartoon animal… The text offers insight into the context of the image, a stream of words set the scene with another layer of possibility.
